"Those couple of days at Camp HOPE were the happiest days of my life."

Camp Camp Hope 2013 Video by Alex Low

Camp HOPE is a wonderful place in central Wisconsin where children and teenagers gather to work through the grieving process after a loved one dies. The camp gently guides the children and teenagers through the complex emotions by showing them that they are not alone.

Fun is the top priority at Camp HOPE. The children and teenagers learn that it is okay to laugh and play and that to do so is not disrespectful to the memory of the person who died.

Through playing, sharing, and being together with peers and staff who know the pain, the children and teenagers realize that the emotions they are feeling are a normal part of grief. What is happening to them happens to others everywhere, and at Camp HOPE, their pain is understood and shared.

Marty & Becky Loy

The founders of Camp HOPE are Becky and Marty Loy. They began the camp in September, 1989 in memory of their daughter, Sara Margaret.

Marty and Becky Loy received the Champions Among Us Award in 2007, sponsored by Johnson & Johnson and Meredith Corporation. Selected out of hundreds of nominees, Marty and Becky accepted their award and grant to Camp HOPE in New York City at the star studded gala held at Tribeca Rooftop.

Johnson & Johnson saluted the Loys for their work with Camp HOPE: "We celebrate the efforts of everyday people who spend their time, energy and talent to improve the lives of children in their communities."
